Apple Risotto from Shokugeki No Soma (Food Wars)
This recipe from episode 16 of season 1 is super easy no make at home and I am gonna show you how.
This recipe is created as a complete breakfast idea in the series, you can eat it at any time, but be aware of it being mostly a sweet recipe. The bacon is super important because it complements the dish making it better and more equilibrated.
INGREDIENTS: (2 portions)
1 Cup Rice
2 Cups Broth
1 Cup Apple Juice
A tiny bit of White Wine
1 Apple cut in cubes
4 Bacon Slices
LET'S GET STARTED:
First of all fry the bacon in a pan until it gets crunchy and set aside.
Melt the butter in the same pan and fry the onion for at least 20 minutes. Feel free to let it fry more, the longer the better, as it will get more caramelized.
Add the rice and mix with the onion so it gets its flavours. Add the wine and let it reduce, then add the apple juice and cook for 5 min so the rice can absorbe some.
Finally add half of the broth, let it boil and cook until the rice has absorbed it all, then add the other half of the broth and again, boil it until it gets absorbed again. By now it should be fully cooked, but you can always add extra broth if you feel like it needs to cook longer.
Turn the heat off and add the fresh apple cubes, mix them in and it is ready. To serve as in the anime, you can fill a bowl with risotto and the turn it over into a plate so it gets the same form. Add two slices of bacon on top, and enjoy!
