Soufflé Omelette from Shokugeki No Soma (Food Wars)
This recipe from episode 14 of season 1 is super easy no make at home and I am gonna show you how.
When it comes to the ingredients, Yukihira Soma talks about some of them, but then he uses a special tomato sauce, and here's where my personal inspiration comes in into this recipe.
INGREDIENTS: (one serving)
1/4 cup Cooking Cream
Salt, Pepper and Oregano
LET'S GET STARTED:
The Soufflé Omelette is not gonna last inflated for a long time (as seen on the anime too), so it is important that you cook them right before serving. For this reason, the best is to start preparing the sauce.
Finely cut the onion and fry it for 20-30 minutes to get it poached and golden, even a little bit caramelized (the longer the better).
Mix in the tomato sauce and oregano and set aside.
For the Omelette: Start separating the egg whites from the yolks. Put the egg yolks in a bowl with the cooking cream and a pinch of salt and pepper, and mix everything together.
In a mixing bowl, add the egg whites and whip them until you get a strong consistency and they are completely whipped. Then add the egg yolk mixture and fold it in slowly with a spatula.
On a pan, add a tiny bit of oil and when it gets warm, add the eggs, fry for one minute, then put a lid on top and cook for 2 extra minutes. Fold in half and transfer it to a plate.
Add some tomato sauce on top and some extra oregano and it is ready to eat. Enjoy!
